A residential sauna requires a bi-annual service, whilst an annual check-up for residential steam room is often sufficient. We can provide specific recommendations for your particular configuration. As a general rule for a commercial sauna, every six months is the recommended timeframe for servicing. For a commercial steam room, a minimum of three months is advisable, however bi-monthly or even monthly servicing may be required if heavy use or hard scale water is present.
We recommended to clean your sauna regularly, ideally after each use or at least once a month for home saunas. We recommend sitting on a towel in the sauna to absorb perspiration, sweat marks that can show up over time & keeping the floor clean after each use. Ensuring your the sauna is dried out after each use helps maintain cleanliness & longergivty of the cedar timber & hygiene.
Use mild, non-abrasive cleaners and avoid harsh chemicals. We recommend natural cleaners like vinegar diluted with water or specialised sauna cleaning solutions are ideal.
Steam cleaners equipped with steam jets can be used to deep clean and sanitize steam room surfaces without the need for chemical cleaners. Steam cleaners use high-temperature steam to dissolve dirt and kill bacteria they cannot be used in a sauna as the pressure is too strong and can cause damage to the timbers. Ensure all cleaning products are safe for use on sauna & steam surfaces, we recommend testing an area first.
Wipe down sauna benches and walls with a damp cloth or sponge soaked in mild natural cleaning solution eg: cleaning vinegar. Avoid excessive moisture on wood surfaces to prevent damage. We recommend turning the sauna on for 10-15 minutes to dry it out after each clean.
Basic sauna maintenance tasks like cleaning and minor inspections for any signs of wear or damage on the heater elements, maintaining the sauna rocks are in good conditdion and not porus for optimal heat distribution can be performed by sauna owners. Follow the manufacturer's guidelines for maintenance. However, for complex repairs or any service repairs, electrical work, it's recommended to hire a qualified sauna technician or electrician. The sauna rocks protect the heater elements and maintain the heat in the sauna. Sauna stones may deteriorate faster with the use of essential oils
Yes, if it is kept outside. We recommend oiling the sauna outside surfaces help protect against moisture and enhances the appearance of wood. Use sauna-specific wood oils or treatments and follow recommended application intervals if necessary. Without this discolouration will occur as well as movement within the timber overtime naturally. No oiling is required of inside timber surfaces.
Yes, if it is safe to do so. Turn off power before performing any maintenance or inspections.If you notice any corrosion or damage upon remove the rocks to the heating elements. If the sauna is not reaching desired temperature, or it is not heating correctly,it is likely a service is due. We can arrange a service technician to inspect sauna electrical components for signs of wear, loose connections, or corrosion.
